The Reflection is a deliberate discussion about the content of your artifacts. Reflection #2 is the second entry, which asks you to discuss the use of language techniques in the artefacts selected. It should be 150-200 words.

Tips for Answering the questions
Question 1: Examples of general language techniques are the formal register, informal register and literary devices. A list of language techniques that are specific to writing styles are:
Question 3: The comment on the effectiveness of the technique is an analysis of why the technique is suited to deliver the message/ issue. Your task will be easier if you classify the artefact by writing style (Expository, Persuasive, Descriptive or Narrative), which gives you the purpose of the artefact (Expository - expose/ Persuasive - persuade/ Descriptive - describe/ Narrative - tell). Knowing the purpose of the artefact then allows you to analyze the effectiveness of the technique.

Repetition is used in the song and poem, while the informal register is used in the article. In the song, the phrase ‘reggae night’ is repeated eighteen times, while ‘I could go on for ever and ever and ever’ is seen in the poem, and contractions are used throughout the expository piece, one example being ‘The lineup doesn’t end there.’ The repetition of ‘reggae night’ in the song is effective because it emphasizes the joy and fun that is associated with the reggae genre. This is the case because a fun effect of ‘reggae night’ always follows the phrase. This positive energy that is associated with reggae is continued (www.bulbsoup.com) in the poem. This repetition comes at the end of a list of positive effects of reggae and serves to highlight that reggae is a light in the world. The association that is made, for both artefacts, is that reggae is fun and facilitates good feelings.
