Tips for Answering the questions
Question 1: This response should be focused on your view, no matter how vague, on the sub-topic/theme. A general impression is acceptable because you would not have had in depth knowledge because this question is focused on before you started your research.
Question 2: The focus of this question is the literal content of each artefact. The examiner wants a very succinct summary of each artifact and this summary can be focused on either the issue in the artefact, or simply the main idea; what the artefact is about.
Question 3: New knowledge refers to information that was gained after research was conducted. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly state an evolved view, based on reading the artefacts. In other words, there should be some change in your view, even a small shift. There should also be a clear link between your new view and the three artifacts.

EXAMPLE: Reflection #1
Before starting my research, I thought that ‘Music’ was important for people’s development and that ‘The legacy of Reggae’ was a dying one, losing its popularity in favour of Dancehall music. The new knowledge that was gained, however, is the serious extent to which reggae music is appreciated around the world. The poem ‘The Great Reggae Music’, by Selvin Ewan’ McRae, speaks about how reggae music is diverse, uplifting, wise, magical and can never grow old. ‘Reggae Night’, by Jimmy Cliff, educates listeners about how reggae music brings people together to have fun and feel good and Evadne Campbell’s article, ‘Reggae Music Unites the World Through The World Peace Project’, outlines the reggae artist lineup for the World Peace Project. The article (www.bulbsoup.com) elaborates that it is believed that reggae music will help to spread the great message of peace, love, and unity across all nations and ethnicities. These artefacts specifically affected my thinking on the theme because the poem made me realize that reggae is highly appreciated, the song allowed me to see that reggae brings people together and the article enlightened me about the fact that reggae spreads the message of peace, love and unity around the world.
